Easy to use Recorder October 30, 2008 This is my first portable MP3 recorder. I use it primarily to record off of a sound system. The ease of recording is great and downloading onto my computer for editing is also very easy. I think it was a very good investment and would recommend it anyone. I am looking forward to exploring the other options, like recording from the internal mic.
Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder
great recording device October 29, 2008 Wonderful recorder for the money! I purchased it for a couple of needs- to record myself practicing the drums and for sampling. It is a great size, offers four different mic settings for varied uses, different sampling rates for auto quality/file size, easy to transfer audio to a computer, and the price is right. Highly recommend for anybody looking for a quality recorder at an affordable price.
Zoom H2 October 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I play banjo and guitar (bluegrass and old-time) and spend a lot of time jamming and playing concerts and for dances. In this context it's very useful to own a portable recording device (which comes in handy for learning new tunes, copying a good jam or concert, or working out the kinks in my own playing). My previous portable recording device was a Sharp minidisc--which worked pretty well. It's main disadvantage was that (strangely) it recorded digitally but would only export analog files. It was also wicked complicated and easy to screw up. So I checked around carefully before deciding to replace it with one of the new portable digital devices. Manny of my friends had purchased Edirols, and that was the direction in which I was headed until one friend (who owned an Edirol, Olympus, and a Zoon H2) recommended the Zoom. It's pretty cheap, flexible, relatively easy to use, small, and the sound quality is very good. I like it that you can record in quad or stereo, in Wav or a varity of Mp3 formats, and that recording and playback are pretty easy (and the mmenu is logical). Plus, all the accessories I can think of included in the package. And it has an illuminated display, so you can see what you're doing at a nightime outdoor jam or a dark theater. My only complaint is the same one I have for most modern small electronic devices--it does many things I don't need it to do and it requires vigilance to avoid inadvertenntly using these extraneous functions. But that will be seen as a great advantage to those more technologically adept than I (and I may come to appreciate these features too). The Zoom H2 is a good value and it works for me. Steve Arkin
Zoom H2 Amazing October 28, 2008 This little thing does everything promised beautifully, and the fidelity is amazing. For so many options I found the menus just fine. If you don't have analog-to-digital interface software on your computer, just save an LP or casette to the H2 and download it as a complete file later. There are ways. . . . But be advised: as it says, it won't allow overdubbing, or mixing direct line and mic inputs. It even comes with a mic stand adaptor!
great recorder October 25, 2008 very simple to use. quick, n easy. no problem getting the recording onto the computer.
