 Great Price, Simple Install June 22, 2008
Laser printing is really the only way to go, and this toner cartridge from Brother is why. It's a snap to order and install, and much more reliable. (plus, no running!)
Would you rather get a 450 page capacity at 9 cents per page (inkjet), or a 2500 page capacity at 1.6 cents (laser)? ...Exactly. Great decision!
Toner Cartridge June 21, 2008
I needed a replacement cartridge for my Brother printer. When I bought the printer, I read reviews that stated it was a good, reliable, reasonably priced one...all of which I was looking for for home use. The one drawback was cartridge price, but I figured I could live with that.
Amazon's price on the cartridge was $20 less then anyplace else I searched (for the same item) plus it was delivered with no charge.

This toner is VERY long lasting--I will never go back to ink-cartridge printer that seem cheaper in the short run, but not the long run. Very easy installation & easily recyclable. And a Very Good Price on Amazon!

Hey, a toner cartridge either works or it doesn't, and if the manufacturer's own cartridge doesn't work, you shouldn't buy printers from them. Brother's TN-350 cartridge works fine in my HL-2040 printer, and despite much searching I've not been able to find a better price than Amazon's. I've also got a Canon multi-function laser, so I know that Canon includes a pre-paid shipping sticker with each cartridge to recycle the old one with them. I know this isn't entirely altruistic on Canon's part, but it is greener than just throwing out the old one, as I had to do with the Brother. So five stars for the product minus one star for lack of recycling.

When I bought the Brother HL2040 printer, I thought it would save money - not so. I have to replace the toner every few months and am now on my third drum unit (in less than 2 years). I would love to find a printer that is more cost efficient for printing black and white! I've tried refurbished toners but they have an even shorter duration.
Tip: When your printer signals it needs new toner, take the thing out, move it gently back and forth and then replace it. I've done this several times and it really extends the life of these things. It's like when your car flashes the 'gas empty' light but actually has four more gallons in it!
