Canon Printer December 21, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Printer arrived broken from Amazon. Canon sent replacement immediately. This multifunction inkjet printer works great and performs everything you need for home printing, scanning and copying.
Decent at best. Documents good, photos AWFUL! December 20, 2007 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I purchased the Canon MP610 after reading reviews on Consumer Reports and here at Amazon. The reviews, here, must have been written by Canon employees. The reviews did say it was easy to install. Yes, it is easy to install and the document printing is fine. The problem is the photo printing, it's AWFUL! It doesn't even come close to the reviews. I printed all sizes, all qualities and they were all BAD! It made otherwise colorful pictures dull and lifeless. I printed photos I had entered in a photo contest. They came out grainy and they lost lots of contrast. If you need a printer that prints photos, LOOK ELSEWHERE! Don't spend almost $200 on this all in one printer that can't perform a feature well or even moderately well. Anyone want to buy a Canon MP610?? It's for sale. Hope this helps.
Awesome "all on one" printer December 15, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I owned a canon i475d printer prior to this but that printer recently stopped working so I had to find another. I researched many reviews and found that the MP610 provided the best overall balance of high photo quality and good text printing. After seeing the photos that I have printed since receiving this printer, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I thought the i475d printed good photos but the MP610 photos are so smooth, they are near studio quality. The only negative comment that I found in the reviews was that some skin tones had a slight orange tint but I have not seen that with the photos I have printed so far. I have also used the copier on this printer which also performed excellent. The printer uses 5 different ink cartridges which were very easy to install and I think will save money in the long run since you only need to replace the color that is low unlike printers that use a single color cartridge. The speed at which photos are printed is also very good. But I will say that it is critical that you use high quality gloss photo paper if you want photos to look the best. Overall I highly recommend this printer (I paid 149 with free shipping and it is definitely worth the price)
Great Printer December 14, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Awesome printer. Really bulky but easy to use and prints great pictures. Use canon photo paper pluss glossy for photos, they look like developed pictures. Not the prettiest printer out there but probably one of the best for the price.
Fast and easy December 14, 2007 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a very fast printer regardless of what type of printing you are doing. Start up time is also very fast, unlike some other printers I have had in the past. I have printed several hundred pictures and only have a couple of issues with the printer. A pop up screen will tell you that the ink is getting low and to replace the ink tank. At first, I replaced the ink tank right away but then, on subsequent tanks, decided to keep on printing to see what happens. You can print a couple dozen more 4x6 photos before you really have to change the ink. They set the replace ink pop up way too soon. when you go to buy replacement tanks, you'll notice why they want you to buy ink tanks. Very expensive, even at Costco. The tanks don't last as long as other Canon printers I've had and you really can't do refills because of a micro chip on the tank. Still, I like the speed and the quality and just have to pay the price for the ink.
