These tools are easy to use sometimes with just one had. I feel safer with cords to trip over or cut.

I bought these three products because I was moving into a new house and I had none of this equipment having lived in apartments for so long. I also own a home bought from retirees that had lived here for 25 years and collected rocks and other crud. So, the yard has issues. I'm glad they are all sold together. I saved money on it and needed all of it. I also get kinda warm and fuzzy thinking that I'm not using gas with these tools. I will say that I did have some issues with endurance in the batteries and can safely say that this is from using the blower. I've worked this out though. My yard is about 7200sqft. I mow the front, use the tools and then charge the batteries a little while I'm mowing in the back. This works out ok, but I still felt I had to manage the blowers usage and switching out batteries based on how I used them in the front. In any event, I think I've gotten it down. When I first moved in though, the amount of work I was doing with the yard (from cleaning up after the first owners) drained the batteries to unusable before I was done. I think the power in all of these units is fine. I haven't had any problems that I felt needed more than these units could give. I did buy a Firestorm Radio/Charge/Drill combo that solves my issues with managing the batteries for $70. I got two more batteries, a radio for my workbench and a good drill. So, I'm all set. I'm really happy with this product and would recommend it with some disclaimer about the batteries. That's why I only gave it four stars. It is really a win-win for my situation here. It fits out of the way and is very user friendly.
Easy to use, powerful enough, helpful customer service June 4, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have a relatively small yard, and find this Black & Decker set just PERFECT for maintaining it. PROS: - The string trimmer self-feeds and I've never had problems with it doing that appropriately. - Ability to "turn" string trimmer to setup for edging mode is great. - Blower has adequate power for basic sweeping needs. I use it after mowing to clean off the sidewalk and driveway. - The hedge trimmer is pretty powerful for its size and has handled everything I've thrown at it, up to about 3/4" branches. - The convenience and ease of use in having all of these tools WITHOUT cords is great. - Having 3 batteries means I never really have an issue with running out of juice doing my basic lawncare. - Comes with mounting rack to store all 3 tools and the battery/charger setup on your wall, getting it off the floor. - Warranty service is quick and helpful. (I had a problem with a small plastic piece breaking that feeds the line on the string trimmer. I called the warranty number and the person on the other end actually knew what she was talking about and was VERY helpful. They immediately sent me a replacement part with easy instructions for installing it. It works great now with no subsequent problems.)
CONS: - If you have a 3/4 acre yard or above, you may not have adequate juice to use all 3 appliances in one afternoon of yardwork. - If you need a blower to do intense tasks like clean out major leaf and debris from your landscaping, the sweeper is likely not powerful enough for the task.
I am VERY pleased with this set -- it is perfect for my relatively small yard and well worth the price.
Convenient, and very good May 25, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Simply put: if you have a small yard (under an acre), this is your only choice. Sure, it's less powerful than corded models. But it's so much easier to use! I had corded models -- AND I RARELY USED THEM! The cord was a pain to lug around; I cut two cords and ruined them.
Battery time hasn't been a problem for me. And, I've found that on most weekends I only need the trimmer and the blower -- so there's always an "additional" battery to snap in if one of the two runs out of juice.
For small yards, this is the only choice!
