Pretty good but it has it's flaws October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The CHI is great! it straightens very well.. I'm indian and have very thick hair, and it's reasonably curly. It's smooth, silky and all that jazz after straightening=) but the only problem is it doesn't have temperature control- which is kind of a pain sometimes. Not too much for me though, cos i need something that hot(cos as i said my hair is very thick). but when i want to lower the temp, i can't. Major hair straightening thermal protection recommended!!( but i guess that's for any straightener) It heats up in like 10 seconds- literally, which is awesome! esp when ur in a hurry- and i always am! All in all, not bad at all. i think it has dual voltage- so travelling-wise all u need is an adapter(double check that, cos i'm still doing my research) That's about it, good luck!
It's Great - When It Works and Doesn't Fall Apart October 24, 2008 I just threw mine out...
Not long after I got my iron, the plates fell out. Tried to contact the mfg and they never responded, so I took it upon myself to find some automotive stuff that would hold the plates in place under the extreme heat it produces. It worked, and I continued to use it. A few months ago it started going off and on. You have to play with the cord to get it to go back on. Recently, it started doing it more and more, and when I finally saw the blue sparks, I decided it was time to trash it, which I did so today.
I have 10 different irons, yes, you read right, 10 - unfortunately, none of them compare to the Chi when it comes to the job it does on my hair. But, I won't buy another Chi at that price. If I find one at a yard sale or a thrift store, fine, but I won't invest in another one at full price if a company won't even respond to it's customers when there's a major problem.
It seems I'm not the first person who this has happened to and Farouk, not recognizing this problem should be ashamed of themselves. I met one other person who had the same problem as I had with the plates falling out. If you Google Chi Plates Falling Out you'll see others who've had issues, esp. on [...]
Again, if you are one of the lucky ones where you have no problems with the workmanship of the iron - it works great, but be aware, you can easily have trouble with this and be left without any recourse from Farouk.
Great value, great product October 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was purchased for my teenage daughter, she loves the product it works great on her thick curly hair.
Love It! October 24, 2008 The Chi flat iron is much better than a regular flat iron. It really does straightens the hair better. I first learned about the Chi from an advertisement on tv. However, I thought "yeah right that product will not perform any better than the products already on the market. I'm not wasting money on that". Then, a close friend of mine does my daughter's hair sometimes and she used her Chi flat iron and when I saw my daughter's hair it really liked as if she had just come from a professional beauty shop. Well, after experiencing the quality and detail of what the Chi flat iron can do, I searched Amazon.com and found the Chi flat iron at a great price. Thanks Chi and thank Amazon for you great prices!
It's good but... October 24, 2008 ...not as good as the GHD that I used to have but still a good purchase for me. I was looking for something to replace the GHD that I had before but didn't want to pay as much. At the same time, i didn't want anything too cheap because those things take too long to straighten my hair because they don't get hot enough or maintain their temperature.
