 Furminator November 16, 2008
I did not get the dramatic results as evidenced in all the videos shown when I purchased the product, but then my dog is a short haired pointer. I was getting handfuls of hair with my old brush and she was still shedding like crazy. I tried using it after getting the furminator and that has decreased so the furminator may have some effect although she is still shedding. It is probably just something to do with her breed or maybe her thyroid is low. I will continue to use the furminator and suggest that others try it.

I was a bit intimidated by the price and metal teeth. The price on Amazon was 25% below store prices so I tried it. Works great on my medium haired irish setter, especially before a bath. The dog loves it too!

The Furminator is an awesome tool! Since I've begun using it, I sweep or pick up much less fur from my floor. My dog's coat looks much nicer too. Well worth the purchase price. I would highly recommend an initial combing with a large tooth or other comb to ensure your dog's hair is free from tangles so you don't hurt your dog when you use the Furminator. Either use this outside or in an area you can easily sweep or vacumn as you'll get an incredible amount of hair off your dog.

Long story short.....
I have two labs, and a long haired cat.
The furminator is AWESOME in the amount of fur it removes.
Will never use anything else again.
On a side note, my pets do not like being brushed with it, not sure why.

The large FURminator is an absolute miracle for anyone with a German Shepherd (and a German Shepherd mix who inherited the undercoat). While I can't explain how it so gently removes the thick undercoat without pulling at the outer coat, I can say it's already saved me hours of grooming and it's done an exponentially more effetive job than I ever could with any of the other dozen or so tools I've tried. Although I'm probably going to have to come up with some other form of upper body workout to replace the long aerobic brushings I used to force upon my dogs, there are a lot fewer furballs rolling across the tile and both dogs come running when I pick it up so it's making everyone happy.
