Furminator with a Chow Chow January 5, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this bc I have a Chow Chow with very thick fur. I normally use a rake tool but thought I would give this a try. I got the medium, and when i tried it, the fur came out but it came out in small pieces and didnt stick to the tool like it did on the rake. The fur just blew all around the house like tumbleweeds, as opposed to sticking on the rake until it filled up. The same process was being achieved, but I felt like it would take 5x as long with the Furminator. Chows shed that undercoat in little chunks, not like a Lab would shed. This part I didnt like bc my dog has so much hair and I have to rake her undercoat so deep, the furminator didnt get as deep as my rake did, the teeth were not as long. I beleive this tool would work great on a shorter haired dog that didnt have as dense and thick of an undercoat as a Chow does, but I did end up returning it. The rake I feel is the best for my favorite breed of dog. I hope this helps.
Furminator - required equipment for dog owners January 5, 2007 This tool has the look and feel of quality. Its comfortable handle makes it a pleasure to use. The Furminator is exceptionally effective at removing fur and hair from dogs. It is very rare that something works exactly the way it is advertised, but this is one product that delivers. I use it on my Golden Retriever every week, and every brush full of hair that I remove is that much less fur flying around the house.
Wonderful product for any pet owner! January 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product is great at removing any loose hair off of your pets. We have a dog and several cats and this works for all of them. Clean up is so very easy, just grab the hair off the comb and you are done. It can be a little messy while you are brushing your pet, so we try to do it outside whenever possible. The brushing action causes alot of hair to come loose, so if you do it inside be prepared to sweep or vacuum when you are done. When this is used with the shampoo, it works even better. We have noticed after a few months of regular use that our pets aren't leaving as much hair around the house as they used to. We would recommend this investment to any pet owner who is tired of sweeping up enough hair to make another animal.
Furminator - a really good product January 4, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This really works - just dont keep brushing one area. I have two large Golden Retreivers and this really gets the loose hair out of them. This is a really good product for us who have shedding dogs - be sure to use it outside. 5 stars - it does what it claims to do.

If you have a cat with lots of fur, then the Furminator will help you and your kitty out quite a bit. Don't use the brush if your cat has any matted fur --- brush those out first or you will pull kitty's fur and it will hurt. Once you're finished with one session tho, kitty will have much less fur, and you might be covered, so use it when you are ok with getting furrred. Remember, kitty's fur does grow back, so you'll have to use it again --- but it really works.
