High speed didn't work. Not worth the money. Doesn't go fast enough to cut any thickness of nails.
Nail trimmer October 3, 2008 This works pretty good. My dog was a bit nervous at first but soon realized it wasn't trying to eat her feet. it was a bit messy and you get covered with nail "powder" from grinding the nail. I have a large american bulldog with black nails so I would say it may work better on a dog with finer nails to get through. Although, I think she would rather have me use this than a conventional trimmer which she HATES. It takes a bit more time but with practice, you can really customize the trim. Added bonus is no sharp edges left like a regular trimmer.
Don't buy! October 3, 2008 We have a medium size dog, and this tool didn't even get through 1 nail before the batteries ran down. I used rechargeable batteries as suggested by other owners, but that didn't help. We ended up cutting her nails with our old clippers. Don't waste your money!
Don't waste your money September 30, 2008 This Dremel does not have enough power to trim either of my 45 or 85 pound dogs' nails. It also will suck the battery life and overheat. I can only trim 2 paws and then will have to wait to cool the motor and change the batteries. Very disappointing.
Works very well,Take my hints though September 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to keep me from hurting my dogs toes while clipping. It is too easy to snip and cause a bleed. I have not been able to do one of my two dogs because she is just to fearful of the noise. The first time I used it I was quite disappointed because it did not have enough power to do the job and I was using new alkaline batteries. I decided to try new rechargeable NiMH AA size batteries and thought because they were only 1.2 volt vs. the regular 1.5 volt that it would be even worse. BUT No, the Dremel worked fine and had plenty of power. I did all four paws and still had power left. Use Quality Rechargeables, at least 2300 mAH's-2650 even better and you will save a bundle of money over the years. For the price, probably the best tool of it's kind. If your dog is over 25 lbs, consider adding the 1/2" size drum. The nail will get hot,so pull back after 3 sec.'s or so,otherwise you may smell a burning nail. If the nails are pretty long the 1st time using, it's best to spread the trimming over a few sessions, then stay on top of it. Good product to have on hand, and has household/hobby uses as well.I got mine from amazon very quickly.
