Must Have for Any Job or Just For Fun May 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a friend that has one of the older models and he has put it thru HELL (hauls it around in the back of his truck, left it out in the rain and has taken it to very job site he goes). That's good enough for me to purchase one of the DeWalt DC011 Combination Worksite Radio and Charger which I purchased with other DeWALT items from Amazon.com. This thing has the best sound and is loud and powerful enough to hear over most of your power tools plus it will work off one of the 18-volt batteries almost all day and it is also a charger when it is plugged in. I only wish it had as slot for a USB stick or a SD card, maybe the next model. Amazon.com had the best price and as always very fast delivery
FM radio went out May 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have this radio / charger but I'm not very impressed. I tried to find the old analog model, but couldn't, so I bought the digital model. After about 6 months the FM radio went out. I can get a new board, but it's $60 plus shipping from Dewalt. Other than that, I didn't have any of the other problems mentioned in the reviews. For the price it should have a CD player build in. I use a portable plugged into the Aux. port. Dewalt needs to improve on this unit.
Needs redesign December 24, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this unit in June '07 after first buying the Bosch unit first. I returned the Bosch because I didn't have any cordless tools from them. The sound from the Bosch was so so but way better than this thing. I bought this unit because I have many Dewalt cordless tools and could us a charger/radio combo. The charger works excellent but the radio is horrible,no lows and flat tinny highs. Honestly a $20 boombox sounds better. The Milwaukee version sounds way better but does not charge. I don't care about not having a cd player on a radio thats gonna get knocked around anyway but Dewalt could have done better soundwise for this price and the size of the unit. The problems people had with 50 hr discharge doesn't effect this unit with new yellowtop batteries. I leave my radio unplugged with the battery for a month and it still plays for a few hours.
Why use anything else? December 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I tried buying the cheap radios to keep music going during my projects. They didn't come in well or quit working due to the less than ideal environmental conditions associated with construction. The DeWalt not only handles abuse but charges your batteries at the same time!
Sound quality is only adequate... if i had bought it i would be disappointed May 23, 2007 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
1. I won this at a golf outing, so i was all excited....
2. Found out it doesnt come with the battery, battery itself was 90.00 extra dollars.
3. Pretty cool for a rechargable boom box, even has the input for my mp3 player, had to buy a 5.00 cord to use it though.
4. Sound quality is average at best, no treble, don't buy this if you expect accurate sound reproduction. absolutely no way to adjust the sound of this
5. If you want to charge your dewalt batteries, and don't have high standards for sound quality you will probably like it.
6. also? why would you not bother putting a cd player in this? when it comes with a hard case for your CD's? this makes no sense at all.
Overall I like the idea of an industrial rechargable battery boombox with the ablity to charge my batteries, but if i would've paid full price for this (129.98 at home depot yesterday) I would be majorly disappointed. If they added a battery, cd player, included the mp3 cable and improved the quality of the speakers i would probably change my mind...even if they did increase the cost a little.. but as it is... i am a bit disappointed..
