Great radio and charger November 23, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have owned this product for nearly a year. I have had the same set of AA batteries in it since I took it out of the box, and they still work fine. As for the Dewalt battery going dead, PLUG IT IN, IT'S A CHARGER TOO!!! The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because the price is probably a little too high.
Awful radio November 18, 2006 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
The sound is comparable to a $20 boombox (which would likely include a CD player). The digital tuner is just mystifying. You turn it to go up (or down) the dial, and 1/2 the time, it goes the opposite direction. Sometimes it just leaps to a random point at the other end of the dial. There is no scan feature to offset this voodoo.
When a station does eventually get dialed in, the reception is usually not very good. The clearest signal (not to be confused with a clear signal) is usually a click or 2 off the station's actual broadcast frequency. As often as not, I end up settling for a station I'd rather not listen to, or turn the thing off altogether. This is an oversized, overpriced, battery charger. It comes with a radio so bad that it's a wonder any manufacturer would even allow it to leave the factory.
NOTE: This is a review of the DEWALT DC011 Heavy-Duty Worksite Radio Charger. Amazon has combined reviews of this product with the DEWALT DW9109 1-Hour NiCad Vehicle Charger (7.2-Volt - 18.0-Volt). The DC011 will not charge a battery from a vehicle. The DW9109 does not have a radio.
This is a Dewalt job site radio/charger October 17, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Let's say it again but make a truer statement, this is a Dewalt... "construction phase"... radio/charger. Just remeber that while reading this.
If you want a home stereo at the job site get the bosch it's got all that stuff on there. I've herd them before they are good, yeh it's a home stereo at the job. Now listen, this thing is really only truly more than a radio if you have dewalt tools (the bat charger in back). When I go to work I run a power cord, it's just something you do in construction. So I plug my radio and tune it to the station I want. If my bat goes dead I ether pull the charged one out (if I left it in there) and put the drained one in and go about my way. Anyone that doesn't do drugs should know if you need to do a lot of work you pull out the corded tool or make do with what you have. I've never really had a problem with reception (though I'm also never really that far from a city normally). The quality of the sound is actually pretty good (for what it is), there's not much deep bass, but probly as it dose not have a low Hz range. The sound is clear enough to enjoy and at the job (even at loud volumes) with the various sounds that happen there that's all you need. I don't do the kind of work where I have time to sit and enjoy music... It dose have an AUX for all your gizmo's to plug into so it's not like you can't bring songs with the F word to work ;)
I like it simple for the fact of the built in charger, it's convenient as heck plus you can unplug it and bring the tunes where ever you want. I've never played it long enough to drain the bat so I don't have a beef with that. Though when I bring it with me I don't play it loud. I've never really had a need for presets nor anything beyond that. It has stood up to dust (vary heavy at times), light ran, crap falling on it in the van and the general wear and tear you get in a construction environment.
Bottom line if you want a nice and tough stereo get the boch, if you have dewalt tools and have a nice system back at your house that you listen too, get the dewalt.
Cool design, poor performance March 25, 2006 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Durable and hi-tech design functions well overall, but battery life issues others report are all too real. And, where is the CD player? What were they thinking? Needs a little more work to be a tool I'd want to keep, so mine went back. Hit Wally World on the way back to the jobsite for a <$50 replacement with better sound quality but sans charger. I didn't really need another charger anyway.
Three down-None to go! December 18, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Started out with the DC911, speakers blew inside of nine monthes, (illusion of poor reception perhaps?). Bought the DC011 and it drained batteries (14 & 18 volt) OVER NIGHT, consistantly. Took it back for another try. Second DC011, six weeks in, not one push button would work. Battery charger worked OK though. Guess where that one is! Back where I bought it! I won't try again until they can guarantee it.
