My favorite multi-tool ever July 31, 2008 I have had four previous multitools over the years. The Skeletool CX puts them all to shame. Leatherman has done a great job of selecting the tools that you would need the most in order to save size and weight. I have a Wave and it's so heavy that it is uncomfortable to wear and I find myself not missing the myriad of tools it had. The Skeletool CXs' CM 154 blade is amazingly sharp and hard. The serrated edge, only available on the CX version, is effective as a substitute saw. The exchangeable screwdriver heads work remarkably well. I find myself using them all the time. The pliers / wire cutter handle is ergonomically comfortable in your hand which is remarkable for a smaller, angular tool. Lastly, I'm clipping it inside the top of my pocket vs. having it bounce around in the bottom of my pocket. It keeps it from scratching my phone, etc. and is generally more comfortable to carry. I think carrying comfort is one of the most important aspects to consider when you're selecting a multitool because if it's too uncomfortable to carry all the time you won't carry it. This is by far the most comfortable to carry multitool I've had. All in all, this is the best designed multitool ever. It's design is superior and its build quality is first rate. It way exceeded my expectations.
LeathermanSkeletool CX July 25, 2008 As an ex-avid knife collector, the Leatherman Skeletool dragged me back into my bad knife purchasing habit. Absolutely one of the best EDC knives I've ever owned. Perfect size and function.

To begin with, the positives: I've owned this product for about 4 months now and really do love it (I ordered a second one the day after I thought I had lost my first). I appreciate that this Leatherman has done away with all the extraneous tools that add bulk and weight but are rarely used. I love that instead of needing a holster, I can wear it in my pocket like I would any other knife. At first I was a little leery of the driver bits being removable as I was sure they would fall out (hasn't happened once yet). Now I prefer this as it allows me a more appropriate bit for the situation. I find the blade to be impressive and the opening action fits my hand perfectly.
Now for the negatives: As good as the bits on the screwdriver are, I find the curve of the handle to make screwing anything of substance feel awkward. The pliers, while sufficient for lightweight, emergency applications, should not be expected to perform any real torquing tasks (the first time i tried this, the jaws immediately slipped off and I was left with a good blood-blister in the web of my hand).
All in all, I find it a great tool in a great package. It has the items I need most, fits them into a small form and performs passably. It fits my needs but likely isn't for everyone.
Not bad but not the greatest they put out July 23, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I put this item on backorder from another catalog because of all of the hype about it. It looked like it was going to be another great tool from leatherman. First off, the pliers pretty much suck unless you are just messing with little things at home. I can't even get it to grab a cotter key and bend it at work without the pliers giving. The second bit driver is in a bad spot, it has already fallen out and been lost in mine. Other than that it is a good knife to use around the house. Its just more of a show knife than it is for use.
Excellent multitool July 21, 2008 I had been looking for a new Leatherman to replace my old original, which I lost recently. I never used all of the tools, and was looking for something basic but just as versatile. The Skeletool CX is perfect for my lifestyle. I especially like the large, locking blade and the comfortable handle in all configurations. The clips make it easy to carry and not lose. This is a winner!
