It is not clear from the information describing "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007" that its license stipulates that it CANNOT BE USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES and that ALL its electronic documents appear with the words "Not for commercial use" at the top of the screen.
I chose "Office Home and Student" version of Word 2007 because it best suits my needs as an academic and a writer. It includes "ONE NOTE," which I will use as a researcher, and does not include all the expensive exotica supporting traditional business ventures, such as accounting spread sheets, that all the other versions do include, and that I don't need or want.
It is apparent that "Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007" is a product designed for use by children. All adults have fiscal/commercial interests they might choose to represent in an electronic document: as taxpayers, consumers, and citizens. And it is prejudicial to those interests when a document announces to every reader that it is "not for commercial purposes."
Whaaaat? October 20, 2008 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
For the price ($113) I probably shouldn't complain, but when I purchased my laptop, I thought "Office" was part of the package. I didn't know I was only getting a "trial" version, and as "Office" has become a standard in the workplace, I really had no other choice but to purchase it. The main feature I like about "Office" is it's on-line translation tool and the ability to input Japanese characters; this really boosts my bilingual capabilities. rft
Definitely different, but manageable October 15, 2008 I only purchased this because I purchased a new laptop that couldn't run Office 2003 (which I loved). I haven't had any real problems, except that it is so different it takes additional time to complete projects because everything is in a different place or doesn't work the same. I'm sure, as I become more proficient with this product, I will like it as much as Office 2003.
