Works Great February 8, 2008 Love it. After getting through setup, it makes it easy from there! Also, it helps avoid making mistakes, especially as the laws, and percentage values for deductions vary. Just an internet update, and voila: no necessity to read those government booklets. Fool proof in short.
Great for those who don't want to have to think more than "they" have too.
Bad business practices by Quickbooks January 31, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Quickbooks payroll works ok, but their registration process and business practices stink. Even though I had already purchased the product from a vendor, when I was almost thru with the registration process, Quickbooks asks for a credit card number. There is no way to complete the registration without a credit card number to get the key code. Calling their help line connects you to someone in Indonesia that has no clue as to what you are talking about. Intuit wants the credit card number so they can automaticly renew your subscription to payroll services the next year at a price of $299.00. They also set the product to quit functioning the third of Jan. 09. I will be looking into another accounting program. Chuck
Yearly Subscription. Not worth it for 1-3 employees. January 30, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I love Intuit and I am a user of Turbo Tax and Quickbooks. However, this product was a total disaster for me. I have a couple of farm employees and currently I do the payroll using an excel spreadsheet. It was easy to set up the tax information because I can create the equations for my state and the fed to do it correctly. It was really not that difficult to do, but I wanted something I could do directly in Quickbooks so I bought this program, Payroll.
First of all, the program cost more than Quickbooks and because I wanted to enhanced version, I could not buy the combined deal (saves money on only the standard version). Then, to my surprised when it arrives, I found out that it is only good for one year. What? Why do I have to pay $250 a year for a program to replace an excel spreadsheet which cost me nothing? The tax tables don't change that much that it requires paying every year. I can understand, if I had a big payroll, why I might need this program, but when I just have two guys, I don't understand the extra charge.
What really irks me is that Intuit does not allow me to attach my payroll worksheet to their Quickbooks, so it is either keep them separate or pay $250 a year. Until I find something better or get more employees, I will keep it separate.

Very easy to setup once you have gathered all information. The data were very accurated as compared to my CPA data. It will save me approx. $2000/yr doing it myself.
