When you purchase a higher priced book, you expect authoritative, reliable quality and with this or any of Mr. Murphy's books you won't be disappointed. I don't have any trouble at all envisioning this book being used as text book by professional chart analyst.

Easy to follow even for a non-native English speaker, many real-life examples, I learned a lot from this book. Recommended!
An in-depth guide to Technical Systems January 31, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Technical analysis aims to give guidance for buying and selling stocks (or any other security) based of price trends and fluctuations, rather than the underlying value of the company. As such, these systems require no knowledge of the underlying security, only its price history. All you need to know is the trading symbol. The underlying basis of all of the approaches is that the price history tells all one needs to know to project future behavior. Not all the possible systems are discussed, but those that are discussed are discussed in some detail. From my vantage point, the chief deficiency and chief strong point is the lack of a definitive recommendation as to which system to use. That is left to the reader. This book is, however, a good starting point to direct the reader towards a possible system, about which more can be learned from books specifically written about that system (some of which are provided in the bibliography). The reader should be forewarned, however, that Technical Analysis is only one approach to the market. Many believe that this approach is little more than tealeaf reading and they rely on the analysis of the fundamentals of the balance sheet of the company and its prospects for future growth.
Carefull.... January 17, 2007 3 out of 14 found this review helpful
Don't mistake technical analysis with technical analysis (charting). This book is about the later...charting. OK book if you're into that.
Best of the Best November 6, 2006 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've probably read over a hundred books on the stock market and technical analysis. This book is one of the very best!!! It is great for the beginner and is a reminder to the experienced trader to work the basics. You can use this information regardless of whatever system you may be using. The content progresses and builds upon what you have learned in each chapter.
