Great art product April 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read several reviews on this item and quite honestly, I don't understand why so many people have posted negative reviews. This is a wonderful toy that allows children to be creative. My 5-year-old son has thoroughly enjoyed this product. I gave him a wet rag to use to clean it which does work better than the sponge that comes with the toy. I am not big on the stencils since they restrict creativity but he has used them to trace designs onto the Doodle Pro board which does encourage fine motor development.
Overall, a great toy to take in the car or to a resturant or simply to use to make brilliant drawings at home.
Neat idea, a little messy! April 21, 2007 I read the reviews before buying this product, and I do agree that it is messy with the markers, suitable for children that are a little older. It is fun, and very cute, but a little messy to wash off. I just buy a pack of baby wipes at the dollar store, and let the kids clean off the screen with them, and then throw them out. It works wonderfully, and the problem is solved, since the included sponge is not very helpful. I would purchase this again, especially for the price.
My Children LUV it! March 29, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
First of all, YES the markers stain, so keep that in mind when having your children sit down to play with this. The GOOD news is that the stains DO come out. For those of you having problems try adding whatever clothing is stained to a bucket of HOT water... Pour 1/4th -1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide into the bucket and let sit for 30-45 minutes. The stains DO come out.. This product is EXCELLENT for pre-schoolers who have an interest in drawing. I LOVE the trace mechanism on this and quite frankly it's one of the best "Trace" teaching tools i've seen. The children LOVE the "flourescent" look and it's been hard to get this away from them! You can also add pictures for them to draw by making your own..... Just use a white crayon or marker to highlight the picture and voila you have more pictures...
Very Disappointing! January 2, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As others have said, this is a neat concept, but in reality, it doesn't work that great. After drawing on it, you wet a sponge to erase it. Think about a small child wetting a sponge. It ends up a dripping mess! Then they end up with runny marker all over their hands, which ends up on their clothes, etc. We're good about watching the kids, too. You really have to take control of the sponge and make sure the board is wiped properly before the kids use it. The other thing is that none of the colors glowed very well and the kids stopped using it after only a couple of days. Just a very disappointing gift. Fisher Price should have stuck with the original Doodle Pro... my kids have had it for a year and still use it!
Neat concept but disappointing product. December 19, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
First, I have to admit that my kids LOVE this--they are boys, ages 5 1/2 and 3 and they both play with it a lot (I can't say that about many toys). That being said, it *is* a pain to clean off--but I've found that diaper wipes work well, then we go over it with a clean, dry napkin. The (very small) sponge that came with it is absolutely worthless. It basically makes a wet, colorful mess on the screen--it seems to push around the markings rather than 'erase' them.
The templates are decent, but you can't really see what you're doing unless you look very closely as the markings don't appear until you turn on the light--and that doesn't do much if the template is still in there. My kids don't really use the templates, anyhow, as they prefer to do their own thing.
The markers definitely stain anything and everything they touch and though I've tried, I can't get the stains out (think carpet, furniture, automobile interior). It really is an interesting concept. If the markers didn't stain I'd say it's probably worth the hassle of cleaning it every 3 minutes, but as it stands, this is one toy I can't wait to get rid of after Christmas.
