My Call of Duty 4 game on the xbox 360 was scratched to hell, and no sounds played at all. Went through the repair process and it works fine now. Only gave the product 4 stars because of the confusing instructions. The bottom of the disc still looks scratched, but since it plays now, no harm, no foul.

After reviewing several disc repair kits, PC Magazine gave Aleratec an Editors' Choice award:

The Alera system is a bit more complex than the others we looked at, but it produced stellar results; it earns our Editors' Choice award. You get a motorized repair unit the size of a portable CD player and various wheels you install inside the unit to buff, clean, or repair discs. Also included are two liquid solutions, a buffing cloth, and a power cord. We followed the helpful user guide and ran a few passes; Alera was the only kit that successfully repaired a CD with deep scratches.

Great review, but there are several 1 star reviews here which say that if this disk cleaner doesn't work, Amazon won't refund your money, and Aleratec won't refund your money either.
So if PC Magazine's Editors' Choice for Disc Repair is worthless, what does that say about all Disc Repair kits?

For the money you need to spend on the unit and the additional repair disks you'll need to accomplish anything, you could just repurchase the original DVDs. Don't waste your money on this machine. It is a gimmick.

I really was expecting this product to work for me. I hav 3 xbox games, 2 my kids scratched up and the other just stopped loading and had no visible damage. I ran them thru multiple times. Then I went online and found the games for $3.99 and $7.99 and Halo was $9.99 for a new copy,at a used game center. I hope Aleratec takes it back and refunds my mony,Im still gonna lose shipping both ways, That dont seem fair.

I only used it once or twice to clean disks before it shorted out and broke. Too bad I used the device so infrequently that it was passed any hope of RMA by the time I found out it won't power on.
