Try a different slider July 16, 2008 I loved the idea of a slider and this one looks great, but this one has given me nothing but problems! The sliding action is great, but the design for the charger is the WORST EVER!!! I've returned it under warranty twice within the first 3 months of having it! I barely got to even use the FM radio because I couldn't get this stupid phone to hold a charge. It was very frustrating. First they sent me a replacement after less than a month(!!!) and then when it still wouldn't work, they said it was the battery since that's the part I kept. I told them it wasn't the battery but they insisted I try that first. I did and it made no difference. I'm so fed up I just want a new and different phone altogether! Great idea, but it just doesn't work. Like I said, very very poor design for the charger. Also, because of the connection design, the ear piece for the FM radio won't always connect properly either- can't charge it, can't use the ear piece! Try a different slider!
Great phone! July 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this phone last February and I love it. I have not experienced any of the problems others have mentioned. It has great reception. The few problems I have had are due to where I live, not the phone. My 15 year old niece just got one and she loves it as well. It is also holding up quite well to the demands of a 15-year-old. I would definitely recommend this phone.
My Beloved Phone July 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Christmas 2007 I purchased two of these phones, one for myself and one for my younger brother. Brother's phone lasted two months before the buttons began to crack. Four months into his ownership the screen busted and we had to purchase something else. My phone had been great up until the last month (june) where my buttons began to crack and the phone would "stick"...i would press a button to get to the menu and the highlighted area would stay that way and nothing would happen. I wanted to like this phone, but this a.m. my screen is black! When I turn the phone on I can see a faint red line running from the top of the screen to the bottom. I guess it's over. For these two phones it was over $400 at the time. What a rip off. My fiance's phone is a SE W810i (walkman but not the slider) and it has held up for almost four years now. Good Luck!
All around good phone July 3, 2008 I've had my w580i for a little over 2 months now and it has been working great. The keypad is easy to use, and the screen is very bright and attractive. I've gotten good battery life with this phone. A charge usually lasts 3 to 4 days, probably because I talk about an hour each day, I rarely text, and I set the screen brightness to 80%. I love the camera, which includes a panoramic feature. The menu is straight-forward and easy to navigate.
At first I was a little skeptical about the slider design, but I find it's easy to open and close one-handed. The only downside I can find about this phone is the darn M2 memory card slot. Why can't Sony just go with the cheaper, mainstream MicroSD cards?
do not buy this phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! July 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought two of these phones 4 months ago for my older teenagers..within 2 mths my sons buttons had begun to crack, i called att and they told me they would replace the phone, they sent a new one. within 3 weeks the buttons cracked and half of the number 1 key fell off.. because it fell off they would not replace it again, i argued for over an hour at which time they sent me a different piece of junk phone which my son hated. he had waited forever for a new phone and now is sorely disappointed. my daughters phone has been a nightmare, the screen freezes and now the bottom half is permanently black, 3 of the buttons have fallen off and they won't do anything about it . now even offer a replacement piece of junk phone...this is the most cheaply made phone i have ever seen..you get excited cuz at first it seems amazing! but do not be fooled!
