1 out of 5 stars Not effective and overpriced.   November 29, 2007

I had purchased the mineral veil in hopes of reducing the "shininess" of the bare minerals foundation. (I also wrote a review on that). Additionally I thought it would also help absorb oil and reduce the look of pores.
This product does none of that. It doesn't keep your skin matte for more than a few hours and, even worse, it produces a whitish cast on your face. Do not be fooled, it is not "invisible".
And like others have mentioned, the brushes that come with these products are of poor quality and the makeup, in general, is messy. (I actually used to place kleenexes over my makeup counter before I used the products).
I would not recommend this product to anyone because of the whitish color but also because there are better products out there for the money.
If you have oilier/combination skin, I would recommend a mattifying pressed powder and apply with a sponge or powder puff, applying the powder in a pressing motion. Then use a brush to gently blend.
If you have drier/more mature skin, try applying a loose powder with a fluffy brush.

5 out of 5 stars Great for oily skin   November 18, 2007
I have oily skin, so I use this when I am ready to leave the house. It gives a nice matte look that holds til late afternoon. I re-apply around 2:00. I use it in the T-Zone area. I have tried other products that claim to do the same thing, and wasted my money. And I can tell you I have tried a lot of them, from the high priced to the cheap ones.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST for a beautiful finish   November 18, 2007
This finishing powder gives me that natural "not too made up" look. It has been great for my sensitive skin too.

5 out of 5 stars ***HOW NOT TO HAVE SHINE***   November 6, 2007

Some people seem to have problems with shine....The trick with the foundation is ...DO NOT APPLY FOUNDATION TO THE APPLES OF YOUR CHEEKS FIRST. This causes too much foundation in this area and will cause a shine. Start at the side of your face and then work to the rest. I too would look heavy and shiney in that area til I figured this out. SECOND TIP: I live in the hot, humid south...Can't get away from oily skin. Apply a layer of Mineral Veil to your face BEFORE and AFTER foundation. The Mineral Veil absorbs the oil before it gets through the foundation. I have been wearing Bare Minerals for years now and will never go back to the cream base high dollar professional line ever again. One time, I mistakenly ran out of foundation before my new supply came in, so I pulled out my old make-up. I felt like I had paste on my face the entire day....AND....broke out. This stuff has been wonderful. I have converted all of my friends and family....Even my mother who sold the professional line for 30+ years. Now that says something for this product.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Product   October 23, 2007

This actually does what is says it will - hides flaws. It also adds a sort of shimmer or glow to my complexion. Also - I am allergic to a lot of make-up/soap/perfume products, and I have had no problems or reactions to this product. HOwever - it does the same thing other face powders and powdery bases do - when my skin gets oily, after several hours of wear, the powder has an opposite effect and actually settles or cakes into lines. I wish some miracle product would be developed that actually works with oilier skin types. But I do like this product and I do recommend it.
