4 out of 5 stars good stuff   November 5, 2006

I read a lot of negative stuff about this product, after the fact. Figured, damn, i got burned. The nay sayers were incorrect in my opinion. The price was right and the product is more than satisfactory.

4 out of 5 stars New Towel Remedy   September 26, 2006

The nicest towels feel so soft when you buy them, but WHAT THE HECK?
They are as absorbant as a plastic bag when you try to dry off with them!
They must soak new towels in gallons of fabric softener....the same thing happened to me.
I guess the softest towels on the shelves are the first ones purchased.
Try putting a cup of vinegar in with the machine's rinse cycle.
The acids in vinegar can cut through the sizing, which is the finish that makes the fabric feel soft when you buy it.
That's what makes them useless when you try to dry something with them!
It took about 5 washings, each with a vinegar rinse until they felt like my normal towels.
(They were usable after two or three washings, but still not super absorbent).
Good luck. If it doesn't work the first time, wash them again and try your machine's longest wash option
to give the chemicals time to break down and get washed away!
Washing them in boiling water can cut down on initial washings, too.
If you have a front loader with a sanitize option, that it works great.
If you have a top loader you can manually add boiling water from your kettle.

2 out of 5 stars Always remember, if it sounds too good to be true...   September 12, 2006

I was looking for a "premium" bath towel at a good price when I came across these on Amazon. Heavy towel weight - check. Egyptian cotton - check. Good customer reviews - check. And two sets of towels for $30??!! That's less than the price of just one bath towel of these other brands I have been looking at! Sounds too good to be true? Well, in my case it was. The towels arrived today, and as I excitedly opened the package, I found these lovely, fluffy white towels. Just a few loose threads on them, I'll just pick those off...oops! Those loose threads were still attached to the towel, and there were clumps of them, some several inches long! These towels are clearly seconds, rejects, or else they have lousy quality control in the factory. Both bath towels had areas of loose threads. Anyways, I'm sure they will be soft and fluffy, but I'm sure the threads will also pull as they are washed. I think they should be advertised as seconds, not first quality. I'm sure they will perform fine and feel soft; they just won't look great. I, for one, will return them as I was not planning to buy factory seconds.

no problem with absorbency however i did notice the splotching after several uses. I have never had a towel do this and will probably not purchase another product from this vendor.

5 out of 5 stars Nice, fluffy and very absorbant.   August 23, 2006

To reviewers who said towels are not absorbant: Not just these towels but any cotton towels that are washed with softeners will not absorb water. You'll need to wash them with regular detergent without adding any softeners and they will come out from the dryer very nice, very fluffy and very absorbant.

I got several sets (bluestone) for $19.99 during a one day sale. I could easily paid that amount just for 1 bath towel alone. I'm very pleased with them and will be looking to buy more in the future.
