Disappointing May 2, 2008 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was looking forward to receiving my copy of this book, but, once I began to read, I was quickly disappointed. There's nothing new or compelling here - just a lot of self-indulgent navel gazing. I found the prayers that are scattered through the book to be overly simplistic and unnecessary. I was disappointed in the book enough to have left it on the train. Perhaps someone else will get something out of it; I did not.
Life Changing Book April 29, 2008 Marianne Williamson has unlocked what we all need when approaching Midlife. It should be required reading.
Midlife can be a new beginning! April 26, 2008 I had seen Marianne Williamson on the Oprah show. I liked her philosophy and her demeanor. Although she frequently refers to God and prayer (after all she is a minister), the references are effectively used to make salient points about self reflection and deep thinking. She writes so beautifully that I found myself reading and re-reading many entries. If you want to be inspired to "be the change you want to see happen in the world", then this book will help you to realize a more meaningful and active second half of life.
A Profound Message for This Day and Age April 8, 2008 2 out of 24 found this review helpful
There is one idea Marianne Williamson expresses in this book that I especially like. It's the idea that in this day and age we have added more years to our lives -- but those years are in the middle! What she means is that mid-life at this point in time is far more than just a transition from youth to old age. It has become a vibrant, powerful time that gives us the opportunity to leave our driven, desperate, ego-based lives behind, and truly heal ourselves -- and heal the world in the process. No matter what your age, Marianne's eloquence and passion will ignite a fire in your soul, filling you with a true desire to finally live your life the way it is supposed to be lived . . . with unconditional love, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. I feel like I am living this book right now, and I highly recommend it.

The Age of Miracles April 7, 2008 If you have any doubts about your capacity to live, laugh, and love with ease and grace at midlife, read this book! Ms. Williamson's ability to bring to light the thoughts and feelings we grapple with as we "come into our own" at midlife is fabulous. There's an inner knowing in all of us that is brought to the fore, and supports the priestess we feel emerging as we move into a time of beauty and grace at midlife that is often not acknowledged by society or those around us. We are being offered a new way of life that creates magnificence for both the feminine and masculine, and the beauty of that way is amazing!
