My favorite book :-) June 29, 2008 This is my all-time favorite book ever - thank you so much for such a touching story.

I have discovered that a mark of a good book is one which makes you want to learn more. As I scroll through other reviews I find that I am drawn to the less flattering ones and find that their negative views are one based on historical and political inaccuracies in the work. Thank you for stepping up and pointing these out. Now I will go out and read more about Afghanistan. So to all those people out there that knew the history before, perhaps you will think more kindly of this book now that you know that it is for many a starting point. It is the springboard that will launch people to seek out knowledge. That is a mark of a good book.
A fantastic story! June 24, 2008 I absolutely love it! Khaled's story flows so smoothly. I admired the characters and the tempo moved at a very good pace (some stories can be so slow). It was entertaining, educational and emotionally touching. I'm looking forward to reading his next book, "A Thousand Splendid Suns".
Great book June 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was an emotional and well written book. It gave me understanding into the life of a boy in Afghanistan. I couldn't put it down.
Commonality June 22, 2008 All people everywhere experience common human relations problems; bullies, strict parents, love, lack of love, bravery, cowardice, violent people, the non-violent, and on and on. A frequent reference is that the world grows smaller daily, and that is good because as I wrote in my novel, Return to Zero: Book Two of the Adam Eden Series (Adam Eden) "The world will never know peace until there are no strangers."
It is books like The Kite Runner that help bridge the gaps in understanding between different people. When a person reads a good book about a people and land of which the reader knows little or nothing, the reader will find himself feeling about the different characters just as he feels about real individuals he encounters daily in his own culture.
A good book teaches that we are all fundamentally the same, and once we realize that we can began to look more objectively at other cultures, customs, and religious and philosophical beliefs. Another blessing is that a reader is often encouraged to take a fresh look at his own and true understanding may blossom which produces seeds of brotherhood.
The Kite Runner is a book that everyone should read. Kenneth Ray Taylor Standup Comedian: The Secret and Beyond
