5 out of 5 stars Not long enough!   August 19, 2007

This series is now my favorite! (Sorry Harry!)
I worshiped the first two and had been waiting forever to get this book. I read it as soon as i got it and was very pleased with it - however (SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!) I wish that more had happened. I wanted Bella to either get married or become a vampire in this book - but neither happened. Although she seems to have chosen Edward (my opinion) I think in the fourth book she might choose Jacob, because Edward and Bella aren't yet married. I wish that Edward and Bella had been tied together in marriage in this book so there wouldn't be any doubt. Stephenie Meyer said in an interview that "Jacob is pretty much my favorite character right now" and she says he plays "a big part" of book four... That leads me to believe that Bella will choose Jacob. and i wish some of the things that are going to happen in the fourth book had happened in the third. However, this book is amazing. It's beautifully written and is a great story.
Enjoy reading it!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Ouch!   August 19, 2007

Ok, I loved Twilight and couldn't devour it quick enough, and then I read New Moon and had to read it twice just because I spent the entire book so frustrated because I missed Edward. I've been waiting for months for Eclipse and I'm sorry to say I was seriously disappointed. What happened to the rich imagery and poetic descriptions. The longing and the intensity is not there! I felt like the characters were flat except for Jacob and Victoria getting the obvious benefit of being described in the rich detail that was previously used for bringing the stories and characters to life in the first two books. Alice seems to have had a complete personality make-over and Bella is quite frankly not likable. What happened?! There were even typos and sentences with missing or misplaced words. I was so impressed by Stephanie Meyer in her first two books and expected to see her writing improve and become richer and more expressive. I know this is a little harsh, but I just expected more. I'm going to go back and read all three in short concession and see if I get a better feeling from Eclipse with fresh imagery, but I hope that in the next book Ms. Meyer returns to her previous brilliance.

4 out of 5 stars Love it, but frustrated.   August 18, 2007

I'm not going to give a huge summary of the book. I think that's already been done and then some. As stated in the title, I loved this book, but I was also very frustrated. I thought it was going great until the last third of the book. Don't get me wrong, that was good too, I just somehow also had some issues with it. I think the thing I'm most frustrated with was the epilogue. Sure I suppose Jacob's having a hard time, OF COURSE he is, but the book's about Bella, and here it ends in his view. Not only that, but it leaves on a very depressed note. The whole day after I finished it I was sad and depressed. Yes I know, I get a little too into these books, but there you have it. Not to mention that at the end when she makes up her mind, you still feel bad. I want to be elated for them, but is it just me or does Bella seem a little detatched? I also had a problem with the intimate moments. I loved them, but I'm also 25 and married. I thought she carried them out nicely without going into details, but still. . . I wonder if it's appropriate for the "young adults". Now most people I interact with who read these books are my age, but I do know that there are 13 year olds that read them, and I agree with one reviewer that I don't think they are appropriate for that age. But still . . I loved them and can't wait for the 4th. I wish it were coming out sooner. The wait is going to kill me. As for some other comments. When Bella says she can't live with Edward, it doesn't mean she'll die, it just means the part of her that is her, meaning her personality etc, will die. She obviously lived in the 2nd book, but it wasn't a life that was worth living, until Jacob of course, but that's another story. So there you have it. I think Stephanie Meyer is doing a great job. She makes me want to write.

5 out of 5 stars GIVE ME THE WEDDING!!   August 18, 2007

**SPOILER WARNING***I want to help Alice with the wedding! NO; actually, I want to sit there and watch (or read) Bella and Edward pledge their love forever in marriage, to have one hell of a honeymoon without interruptions by a slobbering werewolf or a thirsty vamp--and then for the action to begin when he turns her to a vampire. I don't think Bella should face the Voluri with the Cullens until she is a Vampire--her ability to block the menacing power of the Volturi will probably come in handy since the Voluri will be coming for "thier purpose." Hey--I think Stephenie Meyer is just having us wait for the tables to turn to the point where it will be Bella protecting Edward, not the other way around for once. A lot of people rant on Bella for her helpless ways--patience people! We have yet to see her character develop fully. I get the feeling Bella is about to grow and evolve into full potential in the next book! Here's to forever!
