5 out of 5 stars A must read! Changed my career!   June 27, 2007
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

After the first 6 months in business (I've just finished my 3rd year), I decided to buy a number of Real Estate instructional books on how to sell Real Estate. I had a feeling this would be the best. I saved it for last. I read 4 other books over the holidays (about a 4 week period). The other books were good, but redundant and nothing that changed me. I started to read this book and immedietely knew that this book was different. It gave specific direction on what has worked for successful people. Not just successful people here and there, but the book took a scientific approach to identify common practices among groups of successful Realtors.

The result? I can't say that I do everything that the book says to do. I should! But, I have taken parts of the books and implemented those practices. The year after reading this book I made the top 20% in the market. The following year I made the top 15%. And this year is off the charts. I'm not sure where I will end up, but top 10 or better.

There is no substitute for hard work, but I would rather work hard the right way. Best of luck!

4 out of 5 stars You've Got To Be Open To A Unique Perspective   June 22, 2007

This is the best book on the market on how to organize and run a real estate agent business. Its principles are applicable whether you are a brand new agent, or have years of experience. That said, if you are looking for a book to explain listings per se, or working with buyers per se, then this might not be the right book for you -- this book looks at being an agent from a much broader (and more important in my opinion) perspective than that. If you are smart (if you "get it") then you will realize that the things taught in this book are far more important to your ultimate success than any book you might read on how to take a listing. Buy this book, read it ten times, and when you think you understand it read it ten more times! Its message is that important! Few understand this.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I should say that I am an attorney, real estate broker, investor, trainer, and am affiliated with a Keller Williams office in Chicago. That said, rest assured that my affiliation with Keller Williams does not affect my integrity with respect to my review of this book -- honestly, it is a good book that you should read. For what it's worth, I am the author of another real estate related book that can also be found here on Amazon -- The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Building Wealth Buying Houses: The Foolproof Roadmap to Real Estate Riches Without the Risks and Hassles of Landlording. It's part of the "WealthLoop Series" and unlike many real estate books, it is an actual "how to" book as opposed to a "rah-rah" book and comes complete with forms, checklists, leases -- everything the beginning investor needs to get started. Agents from across the country have been telling me that my book finally taught them the right way to work with residential investors. You might want to check out the CD too -- The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Building Wealth Buying Houses (Combo Audio/Data CD): Author's Audio Commentary Plus Downloadable 32-page Marketing Manual, Checklists, Spreadsheets, and Forms.

A related program that's well worth checking out is:

The WealthLoop Series Beginner's Guide to Personal Wealth Creation (Combo Audio/Data CD): Audio Seminar With Downloadable 40-Page Action Manual and Active Link Library.

1 out of 5 stars Useless   June 19, 2007

I am a rookie agent and found the material worthless, a complete waste of money and time. There is no real technique here. The book so repetitive its agonizing. The worst part is it really has nothing to do with real estate, I learned NOTHING about the real estate business reading this book. You could re title the book an infinite number of times and have the same content "The Millionaire Day Care Worker" for example. There is as much information about running a day care as there is real estate. Steer clear.

5 out of 5 stars Millionaire Real Estate Agent   June 18, 2007

Every real estate agent needs to read this book or forget about selling real estate and get a job working for someone else. Gary Keller the founder of Keller Williams Realty has gone to the trouble and expense to really find out what has to be done consistently to become very successful selling real estate in the Unites States full time. It all begins with lead generation. I can't tell you how many agents I personally know that don't understand the concept. The model is leads, listings and leverage; its that simple; the basics are very important. I worked at Keller Williams and really beleive in the company because it is the future of the business. If you are not going to be super successful lead generating then you should not even bother earning your real estate license.I could teach anyone even a nonsales person with no personality how to be successful in real estate; its more then attitude; its a hell of allot of work. I would only hire someone in my office that has read, understands and is able to apply these concepts.

Skip it; you can get these platitudes from any R/E seminar.
-get listings
-get a database
-focus on numbers
-think without fear
-"Think a Million"
-"Earn a Million"
-"Net a Million"
-by the way, "IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY . . . "
-"It's about being the best you can be!"

In other words: drink the Koolaid; buy the book. If you still think you need to buy into this odious demagogy, I have a second-hand manifesto to sell. I'm thinking a million.

In contrast, Real Estate Success for Dummies (Dirk Zeller) has a wealth of applicable information.
