This Book Is Awesome! November 4, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly suprised that such a small book had so much information. It has a great momentum to keep you excited. I will read this book over and over.
Excellent resource for new real estate professionals October 22, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I just finished reading Dirk Zeller's "Your First Year in Real Estate" and was extremely pleased at the wealth of information I received from the book. Not only does Mr. Zeller motivate and inspire you to be the best real estate professional you can be, he gives solid advice for doing so. This book is applicable both to real estate and life in general. Definitely one of the best books I've ever read, and I highly recommend it!
Beyond awful! October 20, 2004 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
i'm a new real estate agent and thankfully, have a mentor who teaches me whatever I need to know(my husband is a real estate broker). I say thankfully, because if I had to figure everything out from this book I'd be in serious trouble. this book offers zero practical advice. Zero! I thought that "Complete idiot's guide to becaming a real estate agent" is nothing special but it certainly has some information that many new agents may find useful. this book...I don't even know where to start. author goes on in vaguest terms imaginable how to "achive goals", "set clear objectives", "create a plan"(well, dah!). this book has No SPECIFIC INFORMATION! Don't waste your money!
Not so great... September 24, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book offers some helpful advice but the useful material could have been cut down to about 20 pages... This book is merely an outline with three or four sentences under each bullet and it is full of wordy, trite euphemisms like: believe in yourself, tell the truth, stand your ground, don't give up, create a plan, go for first place, and on and on, ad-nauseam! It's not entirely a waste of time but I wouldn't venture to label this book "educational".
"Your First Year in Real Estate". August 19, 2004 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Hello, My name is Mark Jenkins and I am an Instructor at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. I have been teaching Real Estate Practices for over 5 years to new students of real estate for that time. In reviewing textbooks for my students I have read several good books. I find this book by Dirk Zeller extremely helpful to new agents who just don't get enough good training from the brokerages they work. I also teach new agents in my office, where I am the broker and owner of a Prudential California Realty Franchise. The failure rate for new agents is very high and it is just that they just never get a good understanding of how to make it work from the beginning. Buy this book and read it well, you will still need to learn about the contracts, the National/Local Associations of Realtors and all of the little things to make you a good and highly productive agent. Good luck. Mark Jenkins
