The Best New Real Estate Guide to FSBOs January 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
FSBOs are becoming easier to list than ever before. This is a great book for those agents currently battling the slow real estate market. The author provides templates to organize FSBOs and gives many dialogue settings that get you comfortable with what to say when you begin calling them. Overall, the book offers up many ways to build your listing inventory by prospecting FSBOs. The author also shows how to use fundamental over-the-phone sales techniques to close for the listing appointment. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to new agents.
Very little info for the money January 5, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
As an agent in the business for less than a year, I thought this would be a good source of information for going after FSBO's. I had only tried it once and like the author says, I didn't go back as most agents don't either. However, I found very little meat to this book. Yes, there are a few good ideas, but most of them are covered in much better books than this one. To melt it down to one sentence: If you perservere, you will get FSBO listings just by calling and recalling a number of them. If you don't have another source for scripts to use with the FSBO, then go ahead and buy the book. Otherwise, there are better books out there for new agents. I would suggest "Tips and Traps for Getting Started as a New Real Estate Agent" to start with and then the two others I use often are "Mastering the Art of Selling Real Estate" and "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent" because it is wise to see where you should be looking long-term. Good Luck!
Not the best for FSBO info, but good for a new real estate agent December 31, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The information contained in this book that relates directly to FSBOs unfortunately is lacking. There is good content, but it is more in the form of general information rather than focused on FSBOs. As such, I would recommend it for new real estate agents, but not for those looking for a resource on FSBOs.
FSBO re agent's guide December 13, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Actually I am still in school, I have my california state conditional license, and I ordered this book to support my education. I also got mike ferrys book, 6 figure income in real estate. Most important for these books in teaching and confirming what I have already studied in school. 95% of the new agents entering into the profession, will be out of the profession inside a year. It is a huge responsibility to be in charge of your own time with no boss telling you what you should be doing with your time every day, both books highlight what you should be doing every day. I have hit rock bottom in my life financially, the only direction to go is up, with some work I can have something. The things, and financial reward, are impressive, and also the reward of handing the new owner the keys to their new home. I will be looking for work soon. The books, both of them are full of ideas, and entertaining, as well as they pump me up with new energy. There has been a lot to learn to get passed the DRE state license exam, and continue with 2 more college classes. I feel like I was being overwhelmed by all the information that is new to me, but by getting these books, and reading them, I feel like I am doing more than the other students, that are only taking the course material. Fantastic Book for the New Agent! November 29, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
After passing the required class, passing the state exam and finding a broker, I was ready for business but needed some help beyond all of that! FSBOs in my area pop up all the time. I needed to figure out a way for them to use me. I needed to get my name out there and this book gave me ideas on how I was going to do it. After finishing the book I have put John's ideas in place and have the logs he suggested in place and started contacting FSBOs this week. This book was a great and gave me the determination, insight and courage to call on FSBOs. A must read for all new agents.
