I just got into the Twilight series this Christmas. After I starting reading the first book, I was absolutely addicted. I couldn't get enough of it. I ended up finishing all four books in four days. Out of the Twilight series the first and last books are my favorite. This book ended exactly how it should have. Yeah it gets a little slow in the middle but the ending makes up for it. I can't believe that anyone didn't like this book. It has a happying end so what more can you ask for. I have already read it twice and still can't get enough of it. This is the best book and series ever.
I didn't like the first half of the book and really liked the last half January 6, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So, I'm torn on this book. As I started reading it and getting into the pregnancy and some of the far fetched things that came along with that, I didn't think I could take it. It was just too weird. But I kept going and for the first time in reading the books in the series I found myself skimming because I just thought some of the antagonizing and gory details were just too much. Then after the baby was born and all the way to the end with the meeting the other Vampires and the Volturi, I was intrigued again. I do see others points that it was all wrapped up in a pretty bow and the whole happy ending thing. I'm not sure though if I would have felt differently if it hadn't been a happy ending.
~ One thing...I wasn't pleased with how Edward and Bella consumated their marriage. I realize this is a young adult book and I wasn't looking for skanky details...I guess I was just hoping for some more romance. And as others have said, I was hoping Bella would turn into a Vampire more romantically by Edward thru a passionate kiss on the neck than with the birth and the gore...but hey...overall...it was a great series and I did enjoy it. It was a juicy diversion.
Agree, Book 4 may appeal more to Adult Readers January 6, 2009 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have to admit, when I finished Book 3, I wasn't sure I wanted to finish the series. Jacob got beat up so much emotionally, it was heart wrenching. I was getting totally pissed off at Bella for stringing him along while she knew that Edward was her finally destiny. I personally did not know if I could take anymore, mentally or emotionally. I am an advid adult romance reader, but all my books are guaranteed a HEA conclusion which is what basically defines a good romance. Stephanie Meyers is a new author for me and young adult books have not been my cup of tea since I read my last one over 25 years ago??? I was actually afraid to read final book 4. What if Bella end up with Jacob? (this would surely kill me since I'm definite a Team Edward fan) What if Jacob end up a poor lone wolf with no mate? What if??? However, Book 4 more than made up for all the pain & suffering I had experienced in Books 2 & 3. It tied up the series nicely and definitely gave me, the romance junky, the HEA ending that I craved. It also in a very cool way, made Bella's character grow to reach her full potential mentally as well as physically. She became a powerful vampire in her own right and you can tell mentally/emotionally she also evolved to be more independent and agressive. It was like watching a phyenix rising from the ashes. She was considered a weak & clumsy human, but was actually a diamond in the rough as she rose to be a powerful vampire, great mom and loving wife. A true mate and life partner to Edward. The last scene where she used her powers to finally share her thoughts with Edward was so incredibly romantic. I really really loved it.
I have agree, however, that perhaps this ending would probably appeal more to the adult or more mature readers rather than the young readers. As we all mature, children and family do become more of a focal point and this 4th book really ended the series in such good note. My advice is that the young readers that do not like this last book give it another chance when they older, especially after they have kids. I think they will see this ending in a different perspective.
If by chance Stephanie ever reads this review: BRAVO!!! Well done! How about a story about Jasper & Alice???

I love this book!! Out of all the books in the series this one is my favorite. I have read this book three times and it still draws me in.
