What can I say. I admire Meyer's writing style, how she delves into a character and transforms something on the page to someone you could actually believe is real. I absolutely adored the first three books and I read them over and over again until the fourth installment of the book came out. I admit I'm a little old to be reading young adult books (I'm 28) but I fell in love with the characters and the story, but to see it end like this. I know Meyer is a good author even her book "The Host" had me staying up until the wee hours of the night, it was so good. Breaking Dawn broke the illusion.
I've read a lot of books and believe it or not I've read this same plot in not so well written horror novels. A girl gets pregnant and has a half-vampire half-human child, it's not right and it's not believable. Forget the fact that Bella has character flaws that's normal and human. Come on guys you know there are girls that center their universe around men or love. I didn't care about that because I still found Bella likeable even thou I'm in no way agree about her point of view.
I think this book could have been so much better without throwing a child in the mix. There still could have been a showdown with the Volturi without a kid being in there. I feel like Meyer just wanted an excuse to throw in all these other vampires in the mix so she can write about them later on. I'm happy that Bella received her happy ending but not with the circumstances that led to that happiness. The previous reviews are right life does not end with everyone holding hands and singing. I know this is fantasy so happy endings happen more in books than in real life but in this book it's completely off centered.
Jacob imprinting on Bella's daughter I'm sorry to say was extremely creepy I found myself getting sick even thou I understood the dynamics of it I still could not cope. The whole book made human love seem trivial, like it's nothing compared to imprinting or vampire love. I believed in Jacob's love for Bella, believed it was strong and enduring. I think I would have been more accepting of him imprinting on someone else. Meyer draws the conclusion in her book that the fates kept Jacob in Bella's life in order for him to find his true mate in Edward and Bella's offspring. Uhhh, What?
 Great way to end the series August 3, 2008

I loved this book it was a great way to wrap up the twilight series. This book had several twists that I didn't see coming at all. Several people have been saying that SM tried too hard to end the series on a happy note, and as a result the plot suffered. While the story did end on a happy note, the plot didn't suffer. This was a great book and a great way to end the series.

So, here it goes. Yesterday I wrote a review for 2 stars that has since been deleted. Let me explain.
I was one of those fans who was in the line at midnight. I eagerly ran home and read the whole thing. Like many people on here I was upset and didn't understand what happened to my characters. I didn't like Breaking Dawn and wanted nothing more than to forget about it.
Then I remembered that when I first read Twilight I didn't get it. I wasn't impressed and continued on to read New Moon and Eclipse because I got glowing reviews from various people. When I finished I decided to re-read the entire series. Two pages into Twilight the second time, I completely fell in love. I devoured them again (and again, and again).
With this in mind I decided to re-read Breaking Dawn. And the second time around, I got it. The characters felt the same, the story felt right and I felt exactly what Stephenie Meyer was trying to do. Half way through the book I was devouring it, loving every plot twist and scenario.
I am not a teenager, I am a 20-something college educated woman. What people need to remember is that these books are guilty pleasures. They are not encyclopedia's for the things that teenagers should do. I sincerely doubt that anyone is going to get married and have babies or be otherwise influenced by this book. It is a guilty pleasure and it ended in a simply delicious way.
So, to all those fans who are outraged, furious, fill in the blank, I ask only that you re-visit the story a second time. Maybe you will understand what SM was trying to accomplish. I really like this book and think that once the pomp and circumstance wears out most of you will find that you like it as well. Not all of us can be happy, and I appreciate that, but once we get our pre-concieved notions of what should be out of our head, you can see the beauty of the story the way it was meant to be told.
Way to go Stephenie, I am eagerly looking forward to your next projects. :-)

What the hell was SM thinking? Did she even write this book? I loved the first three parts of the series and prayed to the gods that this series would go out with a bang. In actuality it went out more like a burp. A sour burp. i felt the writing style was a bit off from the previous books and then having half the story told in Jake's POV was just dumb. She made him sound like some dumb kid. Okay, he is, but its painful to read that surfer-like dialog. It's like Dude, where's my motorcycle?
It felt really rushed and mish moshed, throwing everything together in a pot and seeing what comes out. Not as bad as the last Harry Potter, but close. it was unconvincing and well, utter crap. The hybrid baby? kind of cute but the bond between her and Bella seems too rushed, Bella is too immature for parenthood. i missed Alice in this book. Charlie took it all way too well. Not enough Edward in this book, and when was there, I wanted to push him off a cliff. And I wanted to smack the whole Cullen clan and the wolves. Everyone was way too whiny.
Also, how much crap and pain and grief can Bella hand to the Cullens? She is always in a pickle and they always have to save her. That was the running theme throughout the books: Pain, true love, sacrifice,and honour; oh and saving Bella from EVERYTHING. It was ok at first then got really old by book 3. She will always be a damsel in distress, even as a vampire. Geesh.
I am usually more articulate than this but this book has broken me.
I worshiped SM before this, and now I will reread the other 3 and not pick this one up again to spoil everything she built up and then bulldozed.
I am giving it 2 stars as a tribute to the other books and what this SHOULD and COULD have been. I'll stick with Fan Fics thanks very much.

What was Stephenie Meyer thinking. I never have bothered to go on line and voice my opion but seriously what a huge disappointment. I'v finished the book and i'm so upset. What happen to drama, suspence and true love???
Was a fan of Edward and Bella. The twight story captured you. Breaking Dawn was a joke of a book. I hated it all of it!!!!!
