Huge mistake for me December 23, 2008 As a Vine member, I tend to choose books that I would not normally read (as I know that my preconceived opinions of the authors might skew my "unbiased" reviews). I saw this book and decided to give it a try. I am an avid reader, and usually have 5 or 6 books in process at any given time. I love all sorts of genres and all sorts of authors. This book was impossible for me to "get into". The CD was awful. The ideas pushed (not offered, but pushed) in this book simply were nonsensical and the author used circular reasoning to defend his position. I felt as if the author was simply promoting an agenda. I just couldn't take in what this author was saying. If you're interested in this sort of thing, I'm quite sure that there are better sources for you available.
Good but way too advanced for me on my own spiritual journey December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My feeling is that this book is for the more sophisticated seeker of spirituality (just my opinion), not for folks like me who are trying to combine the realities of day-to-day life in today's complex world with some balance of positivity and spirituality. Perhaps the book should be marketed not to lay folks but to professionals who work on "new age" philosophies with their clients. I had the most difficulty with the concept of "downloading" wherein you can "download" a new soul for, say, your liver. I didn't really understand the concept as a concept nor did I find it believable (not a criticism, more of a disconnect for me with what I feel is actually possible). Overall, the level of complexity was a bit above my own ability to comprehend yet another spiritual philosophy. I recommend Louise Hay (any of her works but especially You Can Heal Your Life) for more realistic and understandable concepts that actually work under less complicated theories (they've worked for me because they are straightforward, clear and make absolute sense without hours of study to "get" the idea).
But, for those people who have time to focus and properly study the concepts in this book, some wisdom may be attained and productive effects may ultimately occur. It wasn't for me but could be helpful to others.
Exquisite December 20, 2008 This is a journey in and of it self. What an amazing learning curve and opening to new wisdom from this Master. It is difficult to single out one highlight because the entire book is full of highlights. I can only say that Soul Wisdom has helped me release a number of blocks, both emotional as well as intellectual. The content does indeed help a person to transform one's life, one's health, and the lessons enhance spiritual growth in ways that I am rediscovering every day. Exquisite.
takes time and patience December 18, 2008 I had difficulty staying awake while reading this book. The basis for this book is honorable as far as I am concerned. The book is very repetitive. There must be something about repetition that is well-regarded in that culture. There is repetition of ideas, repetition of prayers and chants, etc.
I believe this book, the exercises, and the accompanying CD to be worth giving them a chance. I experienced warmth and lightness of spirit when reading this book, as I do when reading other spiritual books. Many others.
However, I was falling asleep reading this, as it gave me quite a few nice naps and good dreams. I tried to Soul Talk, Soul Dance, and receive divine downloads. I felt self-conscious, and, yes, a part of me thought of it as similar to 1. speaking in tongues, 2. trance dancing, 3. experiencing the power of mass blessings. Nothing new. Not sure I can endorse all of the above.
At certain points while reading, I alternated between impatience, and hypnotic trance. I have difficulty with meditation, because of a delusion that I never have time.
I do not want to draw conclusions about the validity of this material; all I know is that for me, it was very abstract, and trance-inducing.
I might give this book another pass at a later date. Right now, I am feeling too focused on day-to-day tasks to soak it all in.
Modern Day Snake Oil December 16, 2008 In complete fairness to "Master" Sha, I've never been much of a believer in new age and/or eastern spiritual writings, teachings, etc. Also in complete fairness, I should mention that I'm a Christian who finds a lot of this "hooey" in conflict with my spiritual beliefs.
But, I'm open minded and ever curious about many things, and am familiar with Sha's international success and popularity. Accordingly, I thought this one might change my mind.
It didn't.
In fact, it is VERY difficult for me to write a "kind", balanced review. But the truth is, I found the whole thing quite completely amusing, in a Lewis Black sort of way. That is, as I was reading the book, I could NOT get a mental picture of Lewis SKEWERING this book in one of his standup routines out of my head.
Still, in the spirit of kindness and decency, I'll close by saying that this book is sure to be a GREAT source of inspiration to those who are already students or believers. For you, Master Sha will show you how to reach the "ultimate level", putting you in touch with your soul in short order. It's easy to read, and very straightforward.
For the rest of us, I'd stick with material like "The 7 Habits", the "Chicken Soup" series, and, oh yeah, The Bible.
