4 out of 5 stars Deep Thoughts by . . .   January 6, 2009

Beautifully written. Poignant and bittersweet. So many possibilities for happiness, but the ill winds of dysfunctional fortune blow through every chapter. Being drawn deeply into Edgar's plight, I wanted him to find joy and happiness, I almost needed it--so magnetic is the author's storytelling that it has that influence in the reader's mind. Feeling more and more that life would not treat Edgar as I wished, I could not stop reading his tale. The ending caught me by surprise...

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst books I've ever read   January 6, 2009

I read the whole book and I found it awful from start to finish. I only finished because of the hype. I kept hoping it would improve and in the end it would be worth the effort. I can't imagine why anyone would waste the paper and the ink. The book has no plot. There isn't any story being told. There isn't any character development. It reads like a diary. I'd expect a better first-draft from a high-school student.

I don't know when I have ever enjoyed reading a book as much as this one and absolutely!!!!! HATED the ending.

4 out of 5 stars enchanting!   January 5, 2009

this is one of my favorite books. Although it seems to be quite a long read (coming from the girl who finished the twilight saga into three days) it held my attention throughout the entire journey. Edgar is a charming character whom I fell in love with the first twenty pages.
