5 out of 5 stars Best Law Enforcement Drama Ever   November 9, 2007

I have never seen a TV series with better characterization and writing. For well turned psychological drama, this series is the best. The writers deliver scripts that expose the human underbelly of criminals, showing us how real people, even ones who might live next door to us, can cross the line between simply being dysfunctional and committing murder. The actors present it in a way we can all recognize. I've always been fascinated with criminal psychology and the writers/actors/producers of this show explore it for us in a very entertaining way. I often finish an episode thinking to myself, "Wow... that situation sure reminds me of so and so." Disturbing, but mesmerizing.

5 out of 5 stars l&o CI - the best of the law & order series!!!   October 25, 2007

Kudos to the most underrated member of the L&O oeuvre!
criminal intent has always been the most intelligent, complex and well acted series in dick wolf/nbc's group of shows, and the new season is no exception. in fact, i would say that this is the best season yet! i loved the addition of chris noth 3 years ago, and while they seem to be having a hard time finding a steady partner for him, it only cements the character of mike logan that has travelled from the original law and order. Right now i am LOVING alicia witt as his partner, and would love it if she would stay on the show. katherine erbe and vincent d'onofrio are thrilling as always as original partners goren and eames, d'onofrio's tics as an actor have never been better utilized than in this role.

one of the best things about this show is the focus on the criminals; watching them plot and plan, seeing them unravel as our intrepid detectives hone in on them. it makes the mystery much more engrossing, and also keeps one guessing throughout the whole episode.

of the episodes available on unbox:
AMENDS: katherine erbe, whose eames is often relegated to the back burner in favor of d'onofrio, shines in this episode that brings the mystery of who killed eames' husband to a solve. while the case was previously thought closed, the murder of her husband's partner reveals a cover-up, cops behaving badly, and the way a death's effect rips through friendships, work relationships and partnerships. it is one of the best season premieres i have ever seen, i keep it on my dvr and have watched it several times.

SEEDS: this episode introduces logan's new partner, falacci (alicia witt.) witt is sassy and difficult and is a great match for noth's logan.
the episode itself involves brothers who are obstetricians, one of whom is murdered. noth and witt have an easygoing companionship, and truly seem to enjoy acting together, which is what makes this ep, and probably future ones a joy to watch.

SMILE: a dentist's murder leads to poisonings of children and a corrupt company that sweeps it under the rug. goren and eames follow the clues, and goren flirts with a suspect who appears to be trying to help. but, as one should always remember, those who stick their necks out to help are often trying to divert attention from themselves!

I am thrilled that law and order criminal intent got picked up by USA for a new season(s?) and hope that anyone reading this will give the show a try if they're not familiar with it!

This episode is CI at it's best. Tightly written top notch acting BRILLIANT. A perfect CI fix for those of us without cable instead of waiting for NBC to make up it's mind when/if they'll be showing the series on broadcast.
