Good Deal, Better then most. October 28, 2008 This is a good product. It is very comfortable. Easy to use and battery life has been better then the specs have said. In comparison to the Jawbone I had the sound, mic pick up, distance is the same, but the 510 is soooooo! much more comfortable. In comparison to the Scala700 the distance in the Scala700 ( distance = headset to phone )is the only thing that was better on the Scala700. The Voyager510 was better in all other. Oh and don't forget it is so so sooo comfortable. I forget it is even there and I'm a mechanic with my head moving around in engines all day, it's never fallen off or bugged me once. I gave it a four because I would like to see the distance improve. It was nice to take my phone off my belt and leave it on the desk, while working on engines, when I had the Scala700, can't do that now.
A review after 6 months of using... October 28, 2008 I've always read other people's review on things, but I really need to take a moment here to express my review on this item.
I've had and used this item daily for 6 months.
Here are the pro's: * Was easy to pair with phone. * Usually fit well on my ear. * I was able to hear the other person very well.
Here are the con's: * Every person I talked to either heard a bad echo while they were talking to me or just plain bad audio in addition to hearing all the noise behind me. * Turning this on is a PAIN!! There is a little tiny button and after a while, the button sinks into the unit so you have to use your fingernail to dig it out. So many times I have to wait trying to hold down this little button to see if you "catch" it so it goes on. Very bad! * After talking to someone the unit itself then disconnects from the phone about 40% of the time! Then you have to reconnect it. What a pain this is.
I've given up on this unit and I am looking to try the Blue Ant next.
I also tried the Jawbone. It wouldn't fit very well and kept on falling out, plus it didn't have good range with my cell phone! I would put the cell phone in my jacket pocket and I would lose reception! At least this Voyager unit wouldn't do that. Lastly, the people I talked on the other end loved the reception of the Jawbone, where I could barely hear them. Again the Voyager won on that end as well.
But overall, the Voyager was a MAJOR disappointment from all the reviews I've read on here. I bought it because everyone on here gave it praise. Listen folks, it is junk! Look for something newer.
Lastly, I've experienced ear itching and pain after using sometimes. I also did some research into finding out other people have had similar problems. Maybe radiation, ear buds, etc.? Don't know...
I think I am going to try the Blue Ant next, and then that's it for bluetooth for me.
Well, I am glad I submitted this review and get this off my chest. Hopefully this will help some of you.
Take care everyone!
Great Headset October 28, 2008 Love this headset. Fits comfortably on my ear and has good sound quality for both me and the party on the other end.
Good for use in a quiet place October 26, 2008 This headset is very comfortable and stays on great, but there is no noise cancellation whatsoever and if there is ANY background noise, the person on the other end of your call will hear all the noise and have a hard time hearing you. If you will mostly be using this in your car with the windows rolled up or in a place with little to no background noise, this phone is more than adequate. PROS: Has good battery life, easy to sync, comfortable, nice that mike swings out of the way when not in use
CONS: On/Off switch too close to volume and can be pressed by accident, turning off headset inadvertently, picks up all background noise
Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth October 25, 2008 Great product once you get it connected to your phone. The ear "holders" are just one size and take a bit to be adjusted. But....once you get it all set up it is perfect!
